Should marijuana be legalized? "But, honestly, tell me what benefits you think people will get out of it becoming legalized, and attempt to show me that they cancel out all the negatives."
why is the question, "why should it be legalized?" when it should be "why not?"...

topic for 2/5 The truth is a lot of the "suspected terrorists" are really not terrorists. We torture innocent people to find information that does not exist. Still, suspected terrorists are at times, the real deal. That is where the real issue is. Should the innocent suffer for the crimes of theterrorists or should we risk American lives to protect the false terrorists. To put it simply good suffers to stop bad or bad get away to protect good.

topic for 2/5 Yes. I think that if torturing 15 people will save 15,000, then it is worth it. Many people will say that some of the 15 people are innocent, but if they are under suspicion of some kind of terrorist act, then they most likely are a threat. Those 15,000 civilians that have a possibility of being killed are the innocent ones, and we cannot risk having them die because we didn't try to get information out of 15 suspects. Also, before torturing, the government does extreme and in depth background checks on these suspects... they don't randomly pick someone up from an airport or the street. They have to be somewhat involved in a terrorist network or act that is about to happen.

(I really like the conspiracy one.. again, advance preparation is necessary so that you have some knowledge of the theories, such as the JFK assassination...)

on a more POSITIVE note! Yes, you should wake up on Thursday mornings! The idea is to have some knowledge of the topics AHEAD of time for a more effective debate!
Here is what was on the board when the session ended, followed by what was just posted.....
Should we close Guantanamo Bay?
Should the government use torture when interrogating people suspected of being terrorists?
Should ALL drugs be legalized?
Should the government continue to operate using the Patriot Act?
Should the U.S. (CIA) close secret foreign prisons and Guantanamo Bay, and limit detention and interrogation methods?
